Spray Paint Canvas Art

I have a thing for spray paint and stencils (doesn't everyone and their madre? Right?).

So when I came across these new Tulip For Your Home stencils AND the new Tulip Color Shot Instant Fabric Color - I went to town making canvas art for my friends!

Father's Day Ceramic Plate

Hi everyone! Kathy here! Today I have a really fun paint-on-pottery project that is perfect for Father's Day! It's a fun one for the kids to make for Dad!

Here's how I made it and the story of WHY I made it!

Flashy Fabric Statement Rings

I have a huge bin of small wood pieces and finally found something to use them for - flashy fabric statement rings! These are a breeze to whip up and make for a great girls' night project! And I bet you already have most of the supplies on hand!

OK, let me show you how to make them!

Appliqué Tote

What do you do when you are an appliqué hoarder? You shut it down, that's what you do! But, what happens when you love all of those appliqués? That was my dilemma with my fabric stash and appliqués. I decided instead of tossing them I would glue them all on one tote bag! It created one bright bold statement that really represents my personality! I'm really happy I tried this idea! You just have to use Aleene's fabric fusion and put on some fun music and enjoy the therapeutic process of choosing designs and gluing them down.

Marker Makeover: Bedrest

Last week I was shopping at Target and came across a comfy bedrest. Aside from wanting to relax in it, I knew I wanted to give it a makeover with my Tulip Fabric Markers! And so I did!

Read on to see how I did it - I even have a video tutorial!

SUPPLIES:
Fabric Bedrest

Draw circles and flowers with the Puffy Paint all over the surface, then fill in with the Tulip Fabric Markers.

Then fill in between the designs with more color.

The black paint is what ties it all together!

Fused Ceramic Trays

I'm still going strong with ceramics! This time around, I played with Duncan EZ Strokes Translucent Underglazes, they are pure pigment and that got me pretty dang excited. I also had fun fusing these pieces together with Duncan French Dimensions to make jewelry or food trays!

Here is my video tutorial!

Puffy Paint Yarn Bowl

My crochet life is more orderly now that Duncan Ceramics now has a yarn bowl bisque design available for purchase! What the heck is a yarn bowl, you ask? It's a bowl with a slit cut in it so you can keep your yarn ball in place while you knit or crochet. My problem is when I sit down in front of the TV to crochet, my yarn bounces all over the floor, sometimes the dogs even grab it and all heck breaks loose. Now I can keep my yarn at my side with this bowl!

Whether you are into fired ceramics or not, you can make this bowl, read on to see how!

NOTE: To buy a blank bisque yarn bowl to decorate, contact your local Paint Your Own Pottery location.

Fabric-Wrapped Hangers DIY

I recently bought a package of wood hangers, and knew they would be perfect to make over. These fabric-wrapped hangers are super easy to make and look great because you have your favorite fabric do all the "wow" work! AND - it's a great way to use your fabrics scraps to make your closet more artful!

Check out below how I made this one, plus some others too!

How to Apply Sequins with Dimensional Paint

Last week I made an apron for Elena from Charity Wings to wear at the National Craft and Hobby Mega Show. I whipped up the apron, but felt it was missing something...BLING! But it was the night before I was to leave, so I had to think fast.

Crystal Art Embroidery Hoop

I have a pile of embroidery hoops in my garage and decided to put them to work. Because I don't exactly have time to whip out a needle and thread these days, I went for a short cut - crystals and sequins! Perfect for this time of the year, right?
Read on to see how I did it using Tulip Glam It Up Iron-On Crystals and Fashion Sequins!

Crawling Ombré Dye Technique

This is more of a science project than just a crafty idea! I thought it would be fun to experiment with the osmosis process with Tulip One-Step Dye. The cool thing about this idea is you can do it with the kids and try out different thicknesses of fabrics, or sizes of bowls, etc to get different effects.

I got so excited about this idea, I made a video tutorial!

Galaxy Glitter Goo

This week I'm at the iLoveToCreate Design Studio and Alexa asked me to whip up a batch of Galaxy Glitter Goo! I love it when I get assignments like this. This project is super fun to make for kids' sensory activities because it is super gooey and sparkly! And easy to clean up too!

Make Your Own Loteria Pillow

I love the look of the classic Mexican game, Loteria. It's kind of like Bingo, except there are tables of pictures with riddles instead of just calling out numbers. The imagery is gorgeous, and is always used in arts and crafts. So when iLoveToCreate came out with the new line of Tulip For Your Home and I saw all the motifs, I knew I'd be making Loteria pillow! Click below to see  how I did it - so you can too!

Drawing With Dye

Due to the lack of cool plus-size blouses at a lot of retail stores, I took matters in my own hands! Dharma Trading has a nice collection of plus-size dyeable blouses that work beautifully with our Tulip One-Step Dyes. Here is the finished look of a blouse I made this week while here at the iLoveToCreate studios!

Aztec-inspired Derin Bag

You are totally going to think I'm cray-cray bananas, drizzled with loca sauce when I tell you about this bag. The awesome folks at Onna Ehrlich wrote to me to see if I would feature their beautiful Derin bag ($650.00). They were kind and generous enough to send me one to have and keep!

Deep breath.

So I received the bag and loved it! But I thought I'd give it a little DIY love, maybe just a few light barely-there stenciled Aztec designs. Next thing I knew, I went to town on the entire bag! I painted a $650 designer bag!

But you know what? I LOVE IT EVEN MORE!!!! Here is how it all went down, read on...

Handy Jewelry Holder

This was one of those DIY projects that was inspired by something I saw in a catalog and immediately thought, "I can make that!"

I knew I'd seen the hand stands at the craft store, and then I decided to kind of beef it up and add a base. Read on to see how I made it!

Ceramic Affirmation Plates

I have an awesome project for you this week! Straight from mi corazon! I spent last week at the iLoveToCreate studios and taught a ceramic mug class for an event called Ceramajam. My good friend, Laura, from http://thepeculiarpalette.com taught a class too - a mixed media piece. I was lucky enough to take her class and make a cool plate! Even if you don't do fired ceramics, you can do this style on canvas or glass, whatever inspires you! Ok, let's get started...
