Tropical Fish Bathroom Jar

When you think of a child’s bathroom, more often than not it’s a fish/ocean theme with bright colors and adorable sea creatures. The ocean is full vibrant life from the sea floor to the shallow waters. I’ve incorporated some of these colors with the adorable theme found in so many children’s bathrooms!

Plastic Lid Christmas Tree

These days many people recycle their plastic drink containers and water bottles. Turns out though that the lids that come on those containers hold quite a controversy. Some sources say as long as they are reattached to their original container it’s okay to place them out with your curbside recycling. Other sources say that the melting point for lids is different than that of the containers, therefore the lids will contaminate the load. That leaves many of us with a collection of lids to use for crafting.

Beaded Christmas Tree Sun Catcher

Sun catchers are always popular with the kids! This is a great weekend project, or a fun project for a classroom. It will take a couple of days because the glue has to dry overnight. The actual making of the craft takes about 20-30 minutes. On the second day you’ll simply add a hanger and you’re done!

Button Christmas Cards For Kids

Whether it’s for a holiday party at school, a Christmas gift for grandma or for their best friend, making homemade cards is a great way for kids to share the joy of the season. I have a really big stash of buttons so I thought I would show you and the kids how use them to decorate simple cards for the holidays.

Holographic Melted Snowman Shirt

I’ve always loved the concept of the melted snowman in crafting. There are lots of melted snowman ornaments out there and they’re all adorable! But when I saw the iron on holographic transfer sheets, a puddle of a snowman instantly popped into my head!

Crow Magnet Or Pin

It’s fall, and that means pumpkin patches, corn mazes, harvest festivals and of course, scarecrows. But scarecrows wouldn’t have a job if it weren’t for the crows! This cute little guy makes a great magnet for your fridge, or is a fun pin your child can wear to that fall party they were invited to.

Big Eyed Monster Puppets

I have to admit, I love monster crafts. I can’t help it! They are super cute, and girls and boys alike think they’re fun too. What’s not to like?
What I love about these is that they require so few supplies, and chances are you have them at home if you do basic crafting with your kids.

Go Pink! Breast Cancer Awareness Shirt

Each year our high school dedicates one varsity football game during the season to those battling cancer. It's called the Go Pink game and encourages everyone to wear pink to show their support, and also sells gear (shirts, hoodies, bracelets, etc) with proceeds going to one recipient. This year the Hand Family was our recipient as their 10-year old daughter Hailey is fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Faux Stained Glass Glue Leaves

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer, even though there are roughly three weeks of summer left before the fall equinox is upon us. With cooler temperatures comes gorgeous colors amongst the trees and shrubs, and kids love to make crafts associated with that beauty.

Play Scrabble On The Fridge

Do you love to play Scrabble but find it hard to play board games these days with everyone going in different directions? With school back in session, kids going to practice and recitals, and parents pulled between work, dinner and who's going to what game, it can be hard to make the time.

Instead, here's a fun way to have an ongoing game of scrabble that everyone in the family can play no matter when they are home!

Puffy Tissue Paper Pencil

Depending on where you live, your kids are either back in school by now or they will be within the next couple of weeks. In the spirit of "back to school" I've created this fun art project for the kids shaped like a pencil. It's a great after school project, or a fun art assignment if you're a teacher!

Cool Hues Shibori Top

I discovered shibori completely by accident. I was browsing a department store and saw a fun shirt with a really interesting pattern and was told that the method used was probably shibori. So I did some searching and found that it's an ancient Japanese resist method that basically involves scrunching, twisting, folding and/or mashing a fabric and then dying it. There are several ways to do it and the results, as with any tie dye, are different every time.

American Flag Inspired Tie Dye

The 4th of July is going to be here in just a couple of weeks. I am going to a family reunion that weekend and wanted to wear something that would show off my creative personality. I love the American flag and have made several projects using it as inspiration, and thought "why not dye?"

Crimson Striped Tie Dye Top

To be honest, this was a total experiment. The results could truly have gone one way or the other, and as I was removing the rubber bands I was worried that I was about to experience disappointment. But as I continued to remove rubber bands, I realized just how much I was going to love it!
