How to make a Fabric Flower Leather Cuff

I don't know what makes me happier, real flowers or fabric flowers. Today I will be showing you how I made a leather cuff with dyed fabric flowers on it. Did I mention the fabric flowers were tie-dyed with my favorite shade of pink? I am really enjoying showing everyone the different ways you can bring tie dye into your life aside from the traditional T-Shirt. With today's craft I wanted to combine an edgy style with a little shabby chic. Let's get started!

You will need:
*Tulip 5 Color Tie-Dye Kit :  (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet)
*Terry Cloth...White works best.
*Scissors
*Strip of Leather
*Hammer
*X-Acto Knife
*Snap Fasteners
*Aleene's Max Tacky Adhesive Glue
*Lot's of LOVE
I am also using TULIP fabric spray to add that final touch to my fabric flower leather cuff.
If you have never used snap fasteners before these are the tools and materials that will come in the pack. If you are worried that you will put the wrong snaps together there is a diagram enclosed in the package. Just to make sure I did it right, I practiced on a piece of fabric. Thank goodness I did, hehe.
To start I wrapped the leather strip around my wrist to have an idea where I want my snaps to go. I used a pencil to make a little dot. Carefully poke the knife through the leather. Go slow or you will make a larger slit than you would like. I wonder how I know this! You can get your leather from a fabric store or you can get pre cut pieces from Hobby Lobby.
I wanted to show you a picture of what snaps went together. It's a little hard to see but the package has a good description for you. These two are on the same side of leather strip.
These two are on the other end of leather strip.
Once you are done this is how your cuff will look!
There is something about leather that makes me extremely happy. Maybe the smell is what I like!
I used a terry cloth for my flowers. I got a pack of tie dye but only used the red for this project. I emptied the red powder out of the bottle and only put a little back in. By thinning it out I can create nice shades of pink. The reason I like the terry cloth is because the edges can be frayed.
Cut your cloth into strips.
I also splattered a little bit of blue on top to make the fabric look old and used. What I love about this project is the fact that you can create any shade for your flowers. I think I might do a rainbow one next!
1. Start by putting a dot of Aleene's max tacky adhesive glue down on the leather strip. Gently place the end of the strip down on the glue.
2. Start twisting the fabric with your fingers while you glue down the fabric. You want to go in a circular pattern wrapping around the center until you get to the end of fabric strip.
3. This is what your fabric flower should look like in the end. When I tie-dyed my fabric i left the edges white so the fabric would have multiple colors.
After you are done with your first flower move on to the next one. You can place them anywhere you want, which makes it fun.
When you are done spray a little glittered spray paint on top of the entire cuff. Let it dry.
It's starting to look gorgeous!
When the spray dries it will look like a light shimmer on the leather.
P.S. The other night I sprayed this in my hair, let me tell you it was fabulous!

I had so much fun creating this unique leather cuff and I know you will too. Now I need to find a place to where this baby. I already have my next one started, don't worry I will share with you when I am done. The great thing about this is it's affordable and you can create one for each holiday.
Big hugs from my tie-dyed flowers to yours!

Which color would you do yours?
