How to make Velvet Pumpkins

Halloween is becoming less black and orange and more elegant and refined.  That's why we absolutely love these dyed velvet-wrapped pumpkins.  They are both stunning and sophisticated and can easily be taken beyond Halloween and into Thankgiving as well, depending on the color Tulip Fabric Dye you use.  Here's how simple they are to make...

What you need:
Tulip Fabric Dye in black, teal, and purple
– 3 foam pumpkins in various sizes
– 1 to 1 and 1/2 yard of white velvet (amount will vary based on your pumpkin sizes)
– craft knife
Cut three large swatches of velvet that are large enough to cover your entire foam pumpkin.
Now dye these swatches of white velvet using the Tulip Fabric Dye.  Here's a nice visual of how the dyed fabric looks once it's dyed.
Use a craft knife and cut the top of the pumpkin out.  Set the stem aside

Take your fabric square and lay it flat on the table. Place your pumpkin on top and stuff the fabric into the hole.  Gather the fabric tightly around the pumpkin. Secure at top with Aleene's Fabric Fusion Tape.
Once your pumpkin is entirely wrapped, it will look like this.  Add your stem back in and use craft knife to cut around stem if you need it to be smaller to fit. Cut to size. Use some Fast Grab Tacky Glue and go around the edge of the stem and insert the stem at the top to secure.
These pumpkins would make great centerpieces for your Halloween table or spooky mantel décor.  They'd even look great sitting atop some ornate candlesticks or a cake stand for a pretty display!
