Zentangle® Sneakers

If you're crafty I'm sure you've heard of Zentangle®. I spent the longest time, and I do mean LONGEST trying to resist the doodling fad. But one day I decided to borrow a book from the library when I couldn't find anything else I wanted to take home. 

I got after it wit a piece of pink construction paper and my purple glitter pen. It looked like a tween was working it but it was so much fun. That was 1 week ago. And now I'm obsessed with two different notebooks and a good gazillion black markers to doodle my Zentangles® with. It seemed only  natural that I'd get after a pair of sneakers before too long. I held out 7 whole days!

If you ask me, chevron is kind of on its way out and ikat is ready to take its place as the "in" pattern. Ikat is popping up in fabric, home decor and clothes but I've yet to see any ikat shoes.

DIY Leopard Print TOMS Tutorial

Denise Silva Cortes of Pearmama.com is a Los Angeles-based artist who came into our booth at CHA last month. She does a lot of fabric painting on custom-designed shoes and we told her all about our Tulip Soft Paints. She recently gave them a try! Here is her finished result on a pair of TOMS shoes!

"I've been wanting to do a pair of leopard print TOMS in like, forever. I am a leopard print lovin' fool. There are so many different techniques you can use to achieve those coveted leopard spots. It took me a minute to find my pattern mojo, but once I did I was totally excited."

DIY Splattered Blue Suede Heel Revamp

These aren't the blue suede shoes you're used to! I wanted to splatter them up and make them totally unique and fun in this fun DIY project...and I did it in just a few minutes! Totally fun and easy! Here's how you do it:

DIY Painted Blue Suede Shoe Revamp

What you need:
– Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint in colors of your choice (I used pink, black, purple, and silver)
– paper towels
– painters tape
– pair of velvet or fabric pumps (ours were from Charlotte Russe)

What you do:



1. Lay down paper towels or newspaper to protect your work surface.
2. Cover sole of shoe and heel with painters tape. Stuff toe and inside heel with paper towels.
3. Shake your paints well before starting and squeeze some paint out on work area ti remove any air to remove air bubbles.
4. Holding the paint about a foot above the shoe, squeeze the paint in an even motion quickly back and forth. This creates a steadier stream and a more splattered random look. Do this with all the colors and layer to get your desired look.
5. Let dry and remove tape and paper towels.

Now they are ready to wear, so go out and rock them!!!
