Rebeka's Heartwarming Quilt Project
Last week, blogger and artist Rebeka Lambert shared a very heartwarming story with us that we wanted to share with you...here's what Rebeka wrote to us:
"I don't have a question, more of a praise. I recently undertook a project from the heart - I made a quilt of drawings from my son's 1st grade class to help their classmate who suffered a house fire. It was a spur of the moment project with little time to plan. Thankfully, my local store had your Tulip Fabric Markers in stock. I purchased them along with other permanent markers. Before I set them loose on the class I tested them and the Tulip markers came out heads above the rest. Thank you for making such a great product! You can read about the quilt on my blog. The photos of the quilt were taken after a washing, a true testament to the product!"

I have a quilt very simular to this one. I was a volunteer parent at my son's elementry school in Christian County Ky. I was moving during the summer break. My class all decorated a quilt square for me and it was presented to me during the schools award assembly. I was in tears for the rest of the day. I proudly hung the quilt on a quilt rack in my home for many years. It's packed in tissue paper up in my attic now and has never been used. I cna't explain to you how much I cherish this quilt. I take it out now and then and wonder how these kids are doing now and what became of them. That was over 20 years ago now.
Wow! What a great story. Yes, quilts like this really unite communities and make people feel really loved. This would be a great idea not just for people having a tragedy, but great for nursing homes, women's shelters, etc. It really is moving and meaningful to see crafters use their talents for good.
