Greetings, iLoveToCreate® blog fans! I am excited to share the next few plates in my Art Plate series with you today!
Plate #28 – Self Esteem
This one is a tribute to my friend who is one of the most beautiful women I have ever met, yet she always manages to find things wrong with herself. I find it so sad that someone that attractive could have such low self esteem. I hope one day she can look in the mirror and see what the rest of us see!
This one I made after having to deal with a person who was less than kind to me for a few days. Instead of getting upset, that ol' saying about Karma kept coming to mind (you know, Karma's a bi...scuit). Then for three days afterwards I couldn't get the Culture Club song from the 80's out of my head, and I knew a chameleon had to be the subject of my plate. Worked for me! I happen to really like reptiles.
My 100 pound pit bull George and I were so happy to hear that William and Kate decided to name the Royal Baby after him! In honor of this momentous occasion, I gave my George a new title....His Royal Highness Prince George of Fresno. I think it went to his head though, because he has been demanding extra cookies and belly rubs lately. This plate is currently in an exhibit at the Fresno Art Museum. He's really getting famous!
Plate #31 - Dream Big
I made this plate after attending a mixed media art retreat in Phoenix called Art Unraveled. I took a class with Andrea DeMeng called Exquisite Enigmas and I decided to do a plate in the style of what we made in that class. Of course my subject was my favorite musician, Dave Davies, who has been inspiring much of my art lately.

Plate #29 – Karma Chameleon
This one I made after having to deal with a person who was less than kind to me for a few days. Instead of getting upset, that ol' saying about Karma kept coming to mind (you know, Karma's a bi...scuit). Then for three days afterwards I couldn't get the Culture Club song from the 80's out of my head, and I knew a chameleon had to be the subject of my plate. Worked for me! Plate #30 - Prince George of Fresno
My 100 pound pit bull George and I were so happy to hear that William and Kate decided to name the Royal Baby after him! Plate #32 – Home Sweet Home
I made this plate after traveling for a work trip. I love to travel, but I have 3 dogs, 4 cats and a lizard at home that I miss tremendously while I'm gone. I was so happy to get home after this trip and remember sitting down on the couch, surrounded by my four legged kids and thinking that there was no place I'd rather be...so I painted a plate that symbolizes what I call home.
I explain each plate in more detail on my personal blog – The Peculiar Palette – if you're interested in hearing more about them. I also created a Facebook page just for my plate project called 52 Weeks of Art Plates...come on over and check it out!

These plates were made using Duncan® OhFour® Bisque plates, Cover Coats™, French Dimensions™ and Pure Brilliance® and EZ Strokes®. 'Karma Chameleon' also has Artisan Glazes™ on it.
Until next time!

These are awesome! Thanks for sharing!
A+mazing work!
The plates are just horribly ugly. Do you have anything that looks "pretty" or
"traditional"....what you are showing is not artful and will certainly not be something to cherish.
Although there are different styles of creativity/art, and different people.prefer different things, I doubt there is any difference in opinion about the appropriateness of the previous appalling comment which was unprovoked. I have multiple pieces of her work on display in my studio which I indeed cherish deeply. Laura is a talented artist and deserves respect for her work.
These are absolutely lovely pieces of artwork that you have created. I love the patterns and colors that you have used. Your friend is lucky to have a friend like you.
