MAYAINTHEMOMENT TEEN CRAFT: Yarn Wrapped Candles

 

Hey everyone! I LOVE candles. So I always have them around the house. And honestly, they aren't that pretty. You know what is pretty? Yarn! So for this project I wanted to make these candles look as good as they smell!(a little confidence boost...yeah?) :)

 SUPPLIES:

• Aleene's Tacky Line Roll
• Yarn
• Candle

 

First, place the tacky strip around the candle and press down to seal it. Next, remove the paper to expose the tacky strip. Repeat this leaving a space between the top.

 

Then wrap the yarn around the candle. Make sure you leave about an inch from the top to avoid your yarn catching on fire! Other ideas: buttons, puffy paint, crystals, beads in a bottle etc!

 

MAYA IN THE MOMENT TEEN CRAFT: Easy Puffy Paint iPhone Cases

 Hey guys! I LOVED making these cases. I've been seeing everybody with their crazy cell phone cases and decided to make my own versions. My mom recently bought a batch of clear cases on eBay super cheap and they just happened to fit my iPhone 4s.

The most common way of decorating these is the "decoden" method and using bathroom silicone and all kinds of little charms and baubles. I tried out using Puffy Paint because I wanted a brightly colored background and it worked! Once you see all the colors of Puffy Paint, you'll get a lot of ideas. The Puffy Paint acts as a glue to hold everything in place.

A Chop Stick
Clear iPhone case
Other objects: Buttons, big gems, plastic charms, old jewelry pieces, guitar picks, anything small and eye catching!

Puffy Paint, topped with giant gems, then filled in with Tulip Glam It up Crystals!

Cover your work surface with plastic. Squirt the Puffy Paint on the phone case and move it around with the chopstick so you have a thick even layer. When placing items on the cover, start with the larger objects and then use the Tulip Crystals to "fill in." Make sure to let dry over night or ever longer if needed!

MAYAINTHEMOMENT TEEN CRAFT: Christmas Waltz Lyric Dress

 It's the holiday season! As a musician, that mean the holiday song requests will be coming in. I have a couple gigs comingup next month and thought I'd make some Christmasy attire.

My favorite song is Christmas Waltz (I even covered it HERE!) and I thought it would be cool to stamp the song lyrics on a dress.
 
So here we go, this is how I made it!

 SUPPLIES
Cotton dress - the smoother the fabric the easier it will be to stamp on.

• Scribbles Fabric Stamp Pad - TWO, because you'll use a lot of ink
• Scribbles Alpha Stamp Kit
• Tulip Glitter Fabric Spray
• Tulip Crystals
• Aleene's Tacky Line Rolls
• Embellishments like pom pom fringe, a brooch, etc.
• Chalk
• Lyrics to a song

 1. Set your dress out on a flat surface. If it is a brand new dress,make sure to wash and iron it. Spread out the dress if it is flared, and use the chalk to draw light guidelines so you'll know where to stamp your letters and keep them even.

2. Set out your letter stamps on a table. I found it was easiest to sort them by upper and lower case in alpha order.

3. Get stamping! Press the stamp onto the ink pad, make sure it is super juicy and then firmly press onto fabric. I like that the stamps have a little handle, that way they press evenly.

 4. Once all the lyrics are stamped, you'll want to embellish! I covered my dress in Tulip Gold Glitter Spray, it's a fine mist so it doesn't look overpowering, which I like.

 5. Because I want my dress to be noticed from the stage, I thought I'd add some green accents with pompom fringe. I used Aleene's Fabric Fusion double sided tape to add it. I didn't want to sew and I like that the tape is permanent bonding!

 6. Lastly, I added Tulip Glam It up Crystals on the collar and added a feather brooch.

MAYAINTHEMOMENT TEEN CRAFT:Jewelry Mosaic Shadow Box

 

Hello, MayaInTheMoment here! I found some vintage mixed matched jewelry in my garage, and fell in LOVE with it! (Some of them I kept because I just couldn't resist...)

 So, i'm going to show you how to make a Jewelry Mosaic Shadow Box!

 SUPPLIES:

• Aleene's Tacky Glue 
• CraftyChica Paint 
• Tulip Crystals 
• Old Jewelry 
• Wood Shadow Box

 Paint box any color you desire. I chose black on the inside, and gold on the outside to create a vintage look! Let this dry before the next step.

 Apply Tacky glue and jewelry piece. Make sure you hold it in place for a couple of minutes, and wait 30 minutes for the glue to dry.

 Add crystals by brushing on tacky glue, then using  Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Fashion Art Tweezers™ 

apply crystals. This tool makes it so much easier!Next, I added some color to make it pop! I used Tulip's dimensional paint in "Sugar Plum". I also used Collage Pauge in "Sparkles".

Finished! I love how it has an antique feel to it. Can't wait to hang this up on my wall! Hope this gave you some inspiration!

MAYA IN THE MOMENT TEEN CRAFT: Mondrian-inspired Neon Canvas Earrings

Piet Mondrian was a famous Dutch artist known for creating art with a white background, horizontal and vertical lines and three primary colors.

I kind of did my own MayaInTheMoment twist! You can use raw canvas and create wrist cuffs, belts, or earring like this.

Supplies:
Tulip® Soft® Fabric Paint Tubes (Neon)
Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint (Black Slick)
Raw canvas (about 2x3", 2 pieces
Hole puncer
Earring hooks
2 jump rings
Paint brush, cup of water to rinse brush
Needle nose pliers.



1. Cut your canvas to the size of earrings you want.
2. Paint modular sizes of different colors around the rectangle. Let dry.

3. Use the 3D paint to draw vertical and horizontal lines to separate the colors. Let dry.

4. Punch hole at top, add jump rings and earring hooks.

5. If you want to take it a step further, add glitter on top of the paint!

MAYAINTHEMOMENT TEEN CRAFT:Judy Garland Collage Pauge Portrait

Hello! MayaInTheMoment here, bringing you another teen craft! So everyone knows that I absolutely LOVE musicals, therefore Judy Garland. No need to explain how amazing this woman is!

SUPPLIES: 

• Blank Canvas
• Collage Pauge Glossy & Sparkles
• Crafty Chica Glitter
• Crafty Chica Paint
• Tissue Paper
• Brushes

Tear strips of tissue paper and brush them on with Glossy Collage Pauge to create a background. The objective is to make it look painted and abstract. as shown below.

Print out a picture that will fit on the canvas, then using the Collage Pauge Sparkles, seal the image and let it dry for 5 minutes.

Next, paint the words you want with a brush and collage pauge, then sprinkle crafty chica glitter. Make sure your background is completely dry!

It's finished! Add another coat of collage pauge to seal the whole thing. Happy Crafting! :)
