If you are anything like me, you are constantly searching for a more efficient way to organize your jewelry. It's sad to admit this, but my jewelry is mostly clumped into boxes and bags and I spend far too much time digging around to find both earrings from any pair. These small painted laser cut frames are the perfect (and pretty) solution to your earring storage needs. You can drill these with room for more earrings, hang some up and down and some sideways, add hooks to some for your necklaces and bracelets, arrange them on your dressing or bedroom wall and before you know it, you've got a lovely display for your closet or bedroom that helps you keep your baubles organized and untangled! You can also opt to use two frames and sandwich some mesh screen in between, though I was pleasantly surprised at how many earrings these wires held. I think you will be too!
You will need:
Laser Cut Frames (I got mine at Michaels for just a couple of dollars)
Tulip Soft Fabric Paint in pink, gold and white
Tulip Paint Taggers in turquoise and yellow
Beading wire
4 Crimp beads
Tulip Sponge Paint Pouncer
Tulip Angled Paint Brush
Sand Paper
Ruler
Pencil
Electric Drill with 1/16" bit
Step One: Add white paint to the blue and yellow to lighten them to pastel shades. Mix colors thoroughly before painting. Step Two: Use a ruler to mark stripes lightly with a pencil. Stripes should vary in width. There are seven total stripes. Step Three: Use an angled brush to carefully paint stripes. Take your time and alternate between colors. There are three pink stripes, two yellow and two blue. Step Four: After paint has dried, sand it down to reveal some of the wood underneath for a vintage "shabby" appeal.
Step five: Use a paint pouncer and white paint to add some soft white accents to the surface of the frame. Hit the paint with your pouncer, then hit the pouncer on your work surface a few times so you have a very small amount of paint on it. Gently brush it across the surface. If you add too much, use a dry pouncer to remove excess. Step six: Use your angled brush to add gold accents to the lines between each color. This does not have to be perfectly perfect, take your time, don't overload your brush and work slowly! Step seven: Use a ruler and a pencil to mark you drill holes. Drill them with an electric drill using a 1/16" bit. Step eight: Cut a length of beading wire to fit across frame and into the drill holes. Slide wire into holes and pull tightly, securing with a crimp bead. Do this on both sides and make sure the wire is really tight before crimping!
Add your earrings! You can add a third wire at the top of your frame if you like!
That's it! A inexpensive and easy way to turn your tangled mess of jewelry into a charming bit of home decor!

I love it! It looked like it would be very hard to do what with all the filigree - but no. How clever.
These would make great Christmas gifts - after I make one for myself.
I have done this with some black picture frames for earring displays at my local gallery. I used right angle brackets drilled to the back about a third of the way up to make the angled supports. Love the soft colors. I think I should make one of these for my daughter to hang on her wall and wrangle all the jewelry she is amassing. Or maybe fill the space with the cool radiator grill perforated metal for a place to put all those posts! Super clever design! Enjoy the day. Erin
I know, it's deceptive isn't it, Eileen!
Chains? Oh why didn't I think of that, so smart Erin!
I love this and it is far prettier than any of the more complicated earring organizers I have seen. Looks like such fun to make!!! xox
