Children's Art As Plush Toys

Fact: Kids love markers. Fact: Kids love stuffed animals. Fact: Moms love toys kids can make for themselves.

Given these three facts, what is not to not love about this project? Get ready to blow your mind!

White cotton fabric
Second fabric (can be any material, plain or printed)
Needle and thread (sewing machine optional)
Cotton batting
1. Let your kiddo draw their favorite animal/person/place/thing on a piece of cotton fabric. Encourage them to keep the edges reasonably uncomplicated (this will make the next steps easier).
2. Lay the drawing facedown on a second piece of fabric, pin, and cut around the edges, leaving a 1" border.
3. Sew the edges, leaving a 2" gap open at the bottom. Older kids can do this themselves with a needle and thread, younger munchkins may need some help from the sewing machine.
4. Snip darts along the curves and turn inside out.
5. Stuff with cotton batting and stitch up the bottom.
6. Stand back and admire your new homemade plush toy. Yay!
These toys serve double purpose as fancy pillows.

And look at this Little Mermaid. Eat your heart out, Ariel!
