DIY Painted Strawberry Tote

Nothing screams SUMMERTIME more than juicy strawberries. We tried to grow them in our garden this year but for some reason they were lazy and didn't give us many berries. I will say when I see a strawberry I can immediately feel my insides quenching. Plus who doesn't LOVE them! I wanted to make a strawberry bag that I can bring with me everywhere and catch everyones attention! I think this bag will do it, what about you!

Did I mention this is a GREAT craft for kids!

Let's get started.

2-in-1 Picnic Blanket Game Board

Checkers Play crop 2 text generation-t.com
The only thing better than playing board games, in my opinion, is playing them al fresco (even if you find yourself caught in a passing rain shower!). Grab an old flat sheet or a plain table cloth and draw a checker/chess board, a tic-tac-toe grid, a Chinese checkers star, or a backgammon board. When it's time to picnic (hello, Fourth of July), grab the sandwiches and the game pieces and hit the park with your new blanket (PS: it works on the grass or on the picnic table). Game on!

Zentangle® Sneakers

If you're crafty I'm sure you've heard of Zentangle®. I spent the longest time, and I do mean LONGEST trying to resist the doodling fad. But one day I decided to borrow a book from the library when I couldn't find anything else I wanted to take home.

I got after it wit a piece of pink construction paper and my purple glitter pen. It looked like a tween was working it but it was so much fun. That was 1 week ago. And now I'm obsessed with two different notebooks and a good gazillion black markers to doodle my Zentangles® with. It seemed only  natural that I'd get after a pair of sneakers before too long. I held out 7 whole days!

Marker Makeover: Bedrest

Last week I was shopping at Target and came across a comfy bedrest. Aside from wanting to relax in it, I knew I wanted to give it a makeover with my Tulip Fabric Markers! And so I did!

Read on to see how I did it - I even have a video tutorial!

SUPPLIES:
Fabric Bedrest

Draw circles and flowers with the Puffy Paint all over the surface, then fill in with the Tulip Fabric Markers.

Then fill in between the designs with more color.

The black paint is what ties it all together!

Pointilism Pocket T-shirt

PointilismPocketTee generation-t.com
Pssst! It's officially springtime, and that means it's time to pull all those T-shirts out from hibernation--or bring in some fresh ones to the rotations. In this one, Trompe l'oeil meets pointilism in a faux pocket T-shirt--a great low-stakes revamp that'll do wonders at masking a well-placed food stain or simply sprucing up a plain shirt. Making the dots is so meditative, I'm ready to lose myself in a Lichtenstein-inspired image next!

DIY Dot Patterned Sneakers

header-diamond-dot-shoes-dreamalittlebigger
Some days you've got it and some days you don't These shoes weren't my first or even second attempt to get a very foggy idea I had come up with and decided I needed. Red, yellow, pink and black diamonds.
My first effort was comical and looked circus ready. My second I ditched the color for all black and then realized that though neat looking, weren't what I was going for. Just like Goldilocks, the third try was just right!

DIY Watercolor Ballerina Tee

I have to admit that I was really excited when Tulip came out with this set of Fabric Markers. 5 different sizes and tips all in black, so cool! One of my favorite things to do with fabric markers is to add water and create a watercolor effect. It’s so easy and I’m always so amazed at how once it’s dry it’s permanent. When I saw this set I knew immediately that I wanted to use them to create a beautiful sketched image. It’s so easy to create this watercolor effect, click through to see how.

Learn to make a Watermelon Pillow

I don't know about you but with all this cold weather I had the urge to do something that reminds me of sun, summer and grilling! I seriously can eat watermelon's every single day with a sprinkle of salt. I have this yummy watermelon salsa that I make and I can't wait to make some now!

Today I am going to show you how to make this fun, summery watermelon pillow using Tulip fabric markers. We are not using any fabric markers, we are using the new electric neon markers!!! I can't stress how much you need to get these. Kids love them as much as adults. The markers have a nice brush tip and makes coloring in things super easy. Not just that but the pigment is fabulous! Hand Drawn Oxford Sneakers

header-hand-drawn-oxfords-dreamalittlebigger

You might recall that I have a bit of a "thing" with shoes. I love them and I often window shop for them online. One of my very favorite pair of shoes that weren't DIY are my ASPCA kitty cat Vans. Perhaps I'm just a Vans fan because when I saw these oxford drawn sneakers at We Heart It I was instantly smitten. And when I couldn't find them to buy I went DIY of course!

Slumber Party Fun - Custom Pillowcases

This summer I had 4 kids under one roof for 2 days. It was my job to host a weekend long slumber party for my daughter and her two cousins. We did karaoke, baked cookies, swam for hours and most importantly we crafted. Crafted like there was no tomorrow. One of the kids favorite crafts to remember the slumber party by was decorating their pillowcases. This activity takes very little effort (and clean-up) on the adults part but equals loads of fun for the kids. My daughter still requests her custom pillowcase above all others.

Neon Doodle Flower Kicks

There are two projects I remember very, very well from art class as a kid. About 10 minutes into attempting lino block printing in the 6th grade and I was on my way to getting stitches. More fun, was the day we painted pieces of board a wild and whimsical pattern and then covered them with black crayon once dry. The black crayon was scratched away to unveil an awesome, almost tie dyed drawing.

I was hooked and did this many, many times at home. To this day, I remember that as being one of my very favorite art projects that I ever was taught how to do. Today I'm mimicking the look on a pair of neon doodle flower kicks!
