Flashy Fabric Statement Rings

I have a huge bin of small wood pieces and finally found something to use them for - flashy fabric statement rings! These are a breeze to whip up and make for a great girls' night project! And I bet you already have most of the supplies on hand!

OK, let me show you how to make them!

Peekaboo Shamrock Tee

 About 3 years ago I made a off the shoulder Heart  Peekaboo shirt for Valentine's Day.

I thought using this same idea I could make a Shamrock shirt.

I added a few  Tulip Crystals to the Shamrock Shirt  to give it that extra sparkle.

If you follow me at all you know that I am continuously trying

 to reinvent the plain old tee shirt.

CRYSTAL DIY: 13 Ways to Bling in 2013!

Sparkle and New Year's go together like cake and frosting - there can't be one without the other.

Since it the weekend, and New Year's Eve is on Monday, there is plenty of time to embellish something fabulous, festive, and best of all fashionable!

First of all, you'll need to stock up on supplies. Visit your local craft store, go to the fashion art aisle and pick up:

Tulip Glam It Up Crystals
Tulip Crystal Heatsetting Tool
Tulip Tweezers

Once you have those, you're set to crystal up anything and everything. Here are some ideas!

1. Evening Clutch by PattieWack. Take a plain black clutch, pin on a brooch or silk flower and add crystals at random!

2. Shoes! Use a pair from your closet archives or buy a new pair. Here are directions for these!

3. Name choker. This is from the wonderful Cat Morley at Cut Out + Keep. to make this, you'll need some wood or acrylic letters, glue them together, or if you're lucky, find a name pendant ready-to-go.

4. Sculptural choker. Use stuff felt to cut out a sculptural choker design and then accent it with crystals and micro glitter! This one is by yours truly!

 

5. Knitted Earrings by Vickie Howell. What a clever way to liven up an old pair of hoops!

6.  Crystal Ribbon Headband by Gabriela Delworth! This has to be the easiest and fastest way to brighten up your outfit - in a boho glamor kind of way!

7. New Year's Eve Sparkle Mittens by MayaInTheMoment. Anything goes, right? You can pick up a pair of gloves at most any department store. An hour of gluing and you're ready to rock!

8. Frilly Feather Sparkle Earrings! Take a pair of store bought feather earrings or make your own and add a row of tiny crystals!

Other ideas to add crystals: :
9. To the top of a black sweater.
10. To a pair of black or white leggings.
11. A headband.
12. A scarf.
13. A fabric wristcuff.

MAYAINTHEMOMENT TEEN CRAFT: Christmas Waltz Lyric Dress

 It's the holiday season! As a musician, that mean the holiday song requests will be coming in. I have a couple gigs comingup next month and thought I'd make some Christmasy attire.

My favorite song is Christmas Waltz (I even covered it HERE!) and I thought it would be cool to stamp the song lyrics on a dress.
 
So here we go, this is how I made it!

 SUPPLIES
Cotton dress - the smoother the fabric the easier it will be to stamp on.

• Scribbles Fabric Stamp Pad - TWO, because you'll use a lot of ink
• Scribbles Alpha Stamp Kit
• Tulip Glitter Fabric Spray
• Tulip Crystals
• Aleene's Tacky Line Rolls
• Embellishments like pom pom fringe, a brooch, etc.
• Chalk
• Lyrics to a song

 1. Set your dress out on a flat surface. If it is a brand new dress,make sure to wash and iron it. Spread out the dress if it is flared, and use the chalk to draw light guidelines so you'll know where to stamp your letters and keep them even.

2. Set out your letter stamps on a table. I found it was easiest to sort them by upper and lower case in alpha order.

3. Get stamping! Press the stamp onto the ink pad, make sure it is super juicy and then firmly press onto fabric. I like that the stamps have a little handle, that way they press evenly.

 4. Once all the lyrics are stamped, you'll want to embellish! I covered my dress in Tulip Gold Glitter Spray, it's a fine mist so it doesn't look overpowering, which I like.

 5. Because I want my dress to be noticed from the stage, I thought I'd add some green accents with pompom fringe. I used Aleene's Fabric Fusion double sided tape to add it. I didn't want to sew and I like that the tape is permanent bonding!

 6. Lastly, I added Tulip Glam It up Crystals on the collar and added a feather brooch.

A peek inside our crafty world!

People have often referred to our company as "the Willy Wonka Factory of Crafts", so we wanted to give you a little glimpse into our crafty world. There are a lot of products from paints to glues to bottles of glitter that we use on a daily basis, so we have to be well-stocked to meet a last minute rush project! Of course, like other crafty places, we sometimes make the occasional craft store run. Even with our many supplies, sometimes we still can't seem to find a white piece of felt or the exact pink ribbon we need!

But as far as our own products go, we usually have plenty to choose from. Case in point, check out this stash of Tulip® Glam-it-Up Iron-On Crystals™ that I noticed today at Cheryl Ball's craft desk!


I asked Cheryl why she had so many and she said, "Well, there's always one color we seem to be out of, so we have all of these on hand."

So in our craft decorating department, it's crystals that are a girl's best friend!
