DIY Dip-Dye Lampshade

There is something to be said for the plain white lampshade; it's classic, inexpensive, and goes with just about everything. But wouldn't it be nice to jazz up that shade with a special touch? A quick dip in Tulip fabric dye takes this lamp to the next level!
Best part of this project? It's crazy easy. You are four steps swap from something seriously snazzy.

Double Sparkle, No-Shed, Secret Glitter Technique

Glitter, sometimes referred to as "the herpes of craft supplies," gets a bad rap. A sparkly, spangled, bad rap. But if there was ever a time to flex your glitter muscles, it would be this time of year. Just as the holiday season is about to kick off. By using this technique, the initial glittering process is still messy (AND FUN) but the aftermath is much more tidy. You won't be finding glitter bits in your vacuum come St. Patrick's day. Also, this technique amps up your glitter to make it more sparkly then ever!
This cluster of thrift store candlesticks makes for a great centerpiece, but you can use this method on anything that will stand still; ornaments, knick-knacks, silk flowers...you name it.

DIY Outdoor Stenciled Burlap Pillows

Very recently my father and I made a bed bench for my mother. Basically we took an old bed and turned it into a bench for the front porch! And since my mother loves all things decor, trendy and owl I also stenciled some burlap pillows. With the new burlap pillow covers from iLoveToCreate these were tons faster to make than the bench itself!

And complement the bench perfectly!

Wood Surround Glass Block Nightlight Featuring Liquid Fusion!

When you have an adult parent and child with ADD walking through the home improvement store together you're bound to get some crazy ideas. For instance, we came to the store to purchase something totally different for a totally different project but left with a couple of glass blocks and furniture grade oak boards. Why? Because I said to my dad, "wouldn't those things make a killer nightlight?"

As it turns out, it was also a great project to test out one of iLoveToCreate's newest products... Liquid Fusion!

The Cat and the Canary No Sew Applique Pillow Tutorial

My sister and I are both undergoing some big changes in our home decor. We have enlisted the help of our father who is going to be building headboards and installing cabinets and a whole shebang of big time DIY. And since I can't just sit on the sidelines holding the tool bucket, I'm making pillows!

In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to make the no sew appliques that can be applied to pre-made pillow covers. If you're of the frame of mind to bust out the sewing machine, though, I can show you how to make your own for tiny bucks. Either way you slice it, you'll have some super cute and one of a kind pillows.

6. Check out this gorgeous indigo bedding from Ralph Lauren. This would make a great wedding or housewarming gift for someone special.  You know you can make your own version of this!

 7. How about this Wild Peace Pillow?

8. Kuba pillows. From IndigoArts.com:
Kuba pillows use the bold geometries and rich textures of vintage hand-woven raffia cloth from the Kuba people of the Congo. Left in its natural color or dyed with organic red, brown and ochre dyes, it is sewn into applique and reverse-applique, traditionally used in long wrap-around dancing skirts. The flat-weave fabric may also be tie-dyed, embroidered or decorated with cowry shells.

9. Look at this gorgeous tie dye pillow that Etsy seller, DyedStitches, made from diapers and towels! Once she adds her mixed media magic, those fabrics are transformed! We love that she thinks out of the box - cloth diapers? Awesome and oh-so-artful!

10. Tie dye can be used to make beautiful floral designs, just like this! Here is how to do it!
